Board 26 Honors for 2011-12 Season |

On March 16th, Board 26, held its annual season-ending banquet at the Wachusett Country Club. At this banquet, Board 26 honored several people and schools for their outstanding involvement in high school basketball in this area. The honorees were: Ron Dunham, Boys Coach at Millbury High School – recipient of the Loftus/Pickett Award, given to an individual who has shown a stellar history of contributing to the game of basketball. Don Alarie, Board 26 Official – recipient of the James Dorsey Award, given to a member of Board 26 who has given many years of exemplary service to the game - both on and off the court- and to this board. Gina Shaughnessy, Board 26 Official – received an award commemorating her 35 years as an active official, serving both the NAGWS and IAABO boards, and is the longest active woman official in the area.. Northbridge High School – for the fourth consecutive season Paul Baker and his team are the recipients of the Cervini/Hardy Sportsmanship Award, presented to the boys basketball program at a school that was voted by the Board 26 officials as showing the best sportsmanship and respect for the game and the officials this past season. Runners up for this award were Holy Name, West Boylston, Doherty and Algonquin. Shepherd Hill High School – for the seventh consecutive season Jim Hackenson and his team are the recipients of the Ann Ash-Zelesky Sportsmanship Award, presented to the girls basketball program at a school that was voted by the Board 26 officials as showing the best sportsmanship and respect for the game and the officials this past season. Runners up for this award were Quaboag, Tantasqua, Northbridge and St. Peter-Marian. |

At the Social held on Sunday, January 29th, the board members in attendance elected the following for the open positions on the Board 26 Executive Committee: Jerry Powell – Member-at-large; Bill Loftus – Interpreter. |
